Boo! It's that spine-tingling time of the year again when the leaves rustle, the nights grow longer, and the spirit of Halloween beckons us with its enchanting allure. We are thrilled to welcome you back to the bewitching world of #FrightFemmes, your go-to source for all things magical and macabre. As the air turns crisp and the moonlight dances upon the shadows, we are embarking on another year of spellbinding Halloween makeup creations that are sure to leave you spellbound. To expand our creativity, this year we are including some of our favorite Halloween DIYS. From decor to cocktails, we are tickled with excitement to add our crafts to this season’s mix.
This year, Caro, Laura, and I conjured up something truly extraordinary to kick off our Halloween makeup collaboration—a bewitching photoshoot inspired by the iconic movie "Practical Magic."
“My Darling Girl, When Are You Going To Realize That Being Normal Is Not Necessarily A Virtue? It Rather Denotes A Lack Of Courage!”
-Aunt Frances-
For those unfamiliar with this cinematic masterpiece, "Practical Magic" is a cult classic that weaves a captivating tale of sisterhood, love, and the magical legacy of the Owens women. Set in the picturesque town of New England, the film is a visual feast of spellbinding moments, whimsical aesthetics, and of course, some seriously stylish 90s witches. It's a movie that has long enchanted our hearts, and we are beyond excited to pay homage to it in our latest collaboration.
- All the cozy 90s green witch vibes -
The three of us turned back time and recreated these nostalgic 90s looks. When this movie came out, we were in our pre-teen era, still in kid's clothes dipping our toes in young adult fashion. This shoot allowed us to fully dive into classic late-90s fashion and we were not mad about it.
You know me, I can't resist sewing a classic look. For Sally's shop scene, I wanted to capture the vibes of the green slip dress she wears paired with an ivory cardigan. For the dress, I used the Sicely Dress pattern by Sewing Patterns by Masin.
I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THIS DRESS PATTERN ENOUGH.
It is simple, it is easy, it is flattering, and you can dress it up or down. I recommend using a drapey fabric as I did. I used a silky rayon sage floral print from JoAnn Fabrics. You can see how this dress fits in this post.
"Midnight Margaritas!"
If you ever get a chance to plan a sleepover with your girlfriends again, I highly recommend that you have a midnight margaritas moment. Wear your cutest pjs, make some margaritas, blast Coconut by Harry Nilsson, and dance around the kitchen like no one is watching. You'll conjure up a blissful feeling of nostalgia and laughter.
Midnight Margarita recipe by Laura
6 oz Tequila
2 oz triple sec
4 oz lime juice
pinch of salt
"There's A Little Witch In All Of Us."
